Kazel Carbone

Kazel LaPorte Carbone has worked in Oncology nursing for more than 30 years, in both the pediatric and adult populations, both inpatient and outpatient. She received her BNS in 1985 from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN and her MSN-FNP from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN in 1999, where she practiced as an NP in the oncology clinic
She has extensive clinical trials experience at Vanderbilt University as a research nurse, where she developed the Rad-Onc research team, was a DSMB auditor, participated in FDA audits and managed FDA drug mandates. Additionally she served as manager for the Cooperative Group and Consortium operations at Vanderbilt, performing audits, managing Regulatory and Data staff, and opening satellite clinics.
After leaving Vanderbilt, she was an auditor for Frontier Science & Technology Foundation, Inc. ECOG-ACRIN for two years, and most recently was the Quality Assurance Officer at The Ohio State University in the James Cancer Hospital Clinical Trials Office, a 150 person unit. There she helped develop training and education along with internal auditing and participated in Network and FDA audits to assure that GCP, FDA and OSU guidelines were met. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with internationally known Medical, Surgical, and Radiation Oncology physicians in helping to write, review, follow and audit clinical trials.
