Tana Smith

Tana Smith worked in oncology nursing for over 20 years: including inpatient nursing, clinical research, coverage analysis, budget/contract negotiations, and clinical research billing compliance.

Tana previously worked in the Clinical Trials Office at a large academic medical center where she began her career as a clinical research nurse. After leaving direct patient care, she worked with the finance team. She assisted in the implementation of EPIC: including the integration of Oncore and EPIC, workflow development, process improvement, billing grid expansion, and coverage analysis implementation. Tana later became the Senior Manager of Budgets and Billing Compliance where she was responsible for oversight of coverage analysis, budget negotiations, and clinical trial billing review.

Tana received her BSN from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN and recently earned her CHRC. In addition, she has also presented on topics related to clinical research budgeting and research billing compliance.

Away from work, Tana spends most of her time supporting her children in their current activities. She also enjoys traveling and reading.
