Nancy L. Clinton, MBA, RN, BSN, CPB
Nancy has over 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry including: clinical research coverage analysis, clinical research billing compliance, pediatric nursing, commercial insurance regulatory compliance and corporate accounting. Most recently, Nancy was an enterprise risk and compliance associate director with a nationwide health insurer providing compliance oversight of all state and federal legislative/regulatory requirements for both commercial and provider segments. She also spent over six years as a senior leader guiding the strategic direction of a research billing compliance program in Louisville, KY and leading a team focused on clinical trial coverage analysis and billing compliance. Her coverage analysis experience includes the areas of oncology, pediatrics, orthopedics, cardiology, multiple sclerosis, neurology and maternal fetal medicine. Nancy holds an MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Administration, is an RN-BSN from Spalding University in Louisville, KY and is an AAPC Certified Professional Biller (CPB). In her free time, Nancy enjoys knitting, gardening, baking and traveling.
Tana Smith, BSN
Tana Smith has worked in oncology for over 25 years: including Inpatient Nursing, Clinical Research, Coverage Analysis, Budget/Contract Negotiations, and Clinical Research Billing Compliance.
Tana worked in the Clinical Trials Office at Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center where she began her career as a clinical research nurse. After leaving direct patient care, she began working with the finance team. She assisted in VICC’s implementation of EPIC: including the integration of Oncore and EPIC, workflow development, process improvement, billing grid expansion, and coverage analysis implementation. Tana later became the Senior Manager of Budgets and Billing Compliance where she was responsible for oversight of coverage analysis, budget/contract negotiations, and clinical trial billing review and compliance.Tana received her BSN from the Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. She has also presented on topics related to clinical research budgeting and research billing compliance.Away from work, Tana spends most of her time cheering on her children at sporting events. She also enjoys traveling and reading.
